Honey Bourbon Wings Recipe

honey bourbon wings recipe

This is a perfect recipe for our Honey Bourbon BBQ sauce.

These wings remind me of some amazing nights, Thursdays in Brooklyn NYC, a local bar me and a few friends used to hang out at, some ice cold beers, and wings. When I eat these wherever I am, whatever night of the week it is, its always those fun filled Thursday nights. I could not be more happy and excited to bring that happiness to your home.

These wings are a perfect treat for the wing lover in your house. Prepare the un-sauced wings a day before, or prepare everything day of, whichever you choose you can’t go wrong.

Honey Bourbon Wings Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 lb whole chicken wings
  • 1/4 cup Hog In Black Honey Bourbon BBQ sauce purchase here
  • 2tbsp unsalted butter
  • Ranch or Blue cheese dressing for dipping

This preparation was made famous by the great Alton Brown, all credit for this method goes to him.

For the wings, separate the flats and the drumsticks. Steam the pieces in a pot with 1″ of boiling water for 7-10 minutes. In the mean time prepare a sheet pan by covering the bottom with a layer of paper towels and place a cooling rack on top of the towels. Remove the wings from the heat and place on a cooling rack, and place the rack into the fridge. Allow the wings to cool for 1 hour or more if you can.

Then swap out the paper towels for parchment paper and place the wings into a 400-450 degree oven, I use my French door toaster oven with convection fan. Bake for 45 mins to 1 hour or until the wings are browned and sizzling. 10 mins before the wings are done, melt the butter in a sauté pan over medium heat, add the BBQ sauce and reduce the mixture for 5-10 mins. When the wings are done toss in the sauce, and serve with cut celery and carrot sticks and your choice of dipping dressing.

Alternate Air Fryer Method,

I have recently tried this recipe with an air fryer and with all due respect to the great Alton Brown, the newest hot gadget really does eliminate an entire step. Simply layer the wings in your air fryer, set to 400 degrees F and set for about 30-45 minutes, depending on your desired level of crispiness and the wattage of your machine. They come out just as good if not better then the aforementioned process with less mess and fuss. I make my family these Honey Bourbon Wings recipe a few times a month now.

Bon Appetite!
